The baby boomers are coming! Between 2011 and 2030, 10,000 baby boomers will celebrate their 65th birthday EVERY DAY. From 2000 to 2030, the age 75+ market will double. We are halfway through this period, but most of the growth will be on the backend.
The CBO is projecting that spending for Long-Term Services and Supports for the elderly will increase from 1.3% of GDP to over 2.0% of GDP between 2010 and 2030.
With the average age of entry to CCRCs (or Life Plan Communities) being in the early 80s, the boomers have not had a significant impact on operations, but soon they will overwhelm the industry. Community and home-based service
s will both be needed to address this exploding demand. What will it take in terms of integrated services to be viewed as a leader in your market?
